Tidy Tip rules and vehicle restrictions
There are certain rules to be aware of when you use a Tidy Tip:
- you cannot enter by foot or by bicycle
- children and animals must remain in vehicles at all times
- you must sort your waste beforehand
- you must wear sensible closed-toe shoes
- ask a member of staff what to do with an item if you are are not sure
- you must remove your own waste from your vehicle or trailer – staff are not able to help
- if you need help or have questions, speak to a member of staff when you arrive
- leaving waste outside the gates of any tip is illegal and you will be prosecuted for fly tipping
- intimidating, threatening or abusive behaviour towards staff or other site users is not tolerated
If we suspect that you are bringing in non-household waste
If we suspect that you are bringing in more than just your own household waste, we:
- can refuse you access to the tip (if we suspect you are trying to bring in commercial waste)
- may ask you to complete a declaration form confirming that you generated the waste and that it comes from your own household – permission to deposit the waste may be refused if you do not sign the declaration
- reserve the right to make further enquiries regarding the source of the waste, followed up by a visit by council officers
Vehicle restrictions
You can enter the tip if you're using a family car.
You cannot enter our tips if you are driving a vehicle:
- towing a trailer larger than 1.8 metres by 1.2 metres
- with double axel wheels
If you are driving a hire vehicle, you must show a copy of the hire agreement and proof of your address to the site operative.
Permits to use the tip
You need a tip permit if you are driving a:
- van
- pick-up or a crew cab
- car towing a trailer bigger than 0.9 metres by 1.2 metres
- campervan
- minibus
