Council Tax discount for apprentices, youth trainees or school leavers

If you are an apprentice, trainee or a student nurse living in a property with other students then you can get 50% off your Council Tax bill.

Council Tax for apprentices

You can get 50% off your bill if you are:

  • employed for the purpose of learning a trade, business or profession
  • undertaking a programme of training leading to an accredited qualification
  • receiving a salary or allowance (or both) of no more than £195 a week before tax and insurance

We’ll ask to see copies of the apprenticeship agreement.
