Payments
In most cases, you will be paid by BACS (Bankers' Automated Clearing System). This is a UK electronic payment system used by banks and building societies.
Payments will go directly into the bank or building society account you told us about when you made your claim.
Payments happen every 2 weeks.
Direct payments to your landlord
There may be some occasions where your landlord will be paid directly. This could be for various reasons, including:
- to secure your tenancy
- if you are in more than 8 weeks in arrears
If this is the case, we will inform you.
Changes in your circumstances that may affect your payments
Your claim will be suspended if we are notified that you have had a change in your circumstances which may potentially affect the amount of Housing Benefit that you are being paid.
This notification could come from:
- you
- the Department for Works and Pensions (DWP)
- HM Revenues and Customs (HMRC)
- other authorised organisations
This is to stop any overpayments of Housing Benefit being made.
